Handmade Architecture

Handcrafted details

Combining the care and personal touch of custom fabrication
with the foresight required of traditional design and planning

About Me

I started designing restaurants in the early 90s. Thanks to Peter Niemitz who hired me and inspired me. Then I moved to New York City to work for David Rockwell. With Nancy Mah we started our own studio and did many beautiful projects together. I was lucky enough to work with Adam Tihany, and then AvroKO, while I developed my own design practice.

I have been in Architecture and Design for 49 years. My first job in an architect’s office I was 15 years old. I put myself through college at the University of Michigan and Harvard’s Graduate School of Design.

Now I work from the Hudson Valley at my home studio. I use my woodshop to fabricate custom details for each project.  And I split a lot of firewood.
